Singer Songwriter Sonna Rele appeared with her band at a media showcase for her record label Sony RCA. Also in attendance were Asian media and musician friends Raghav, DJ Rekha, Jags Klimax and Sunny and Shay from The Family. Sonna led the audience into the master control room at Metropolis Studios - recently used by Rihanna and Akon - to preview tracks from her forthcoming album before taking to the stage with her band. Audiences were also treated to some intimate acoustic performances on guitar and grand piano, as well as some revealing interviewing from Sunny and Shay. Sonna said "It was exciting to play my new record to so many people. I can't wait to come play it live for you all."
First single 'Love Me Like You Love Yourself' will be out in September with her debut album, produced by Livingstone Brown, set to follow soon after.

The 2010 Mercury Prize nominations were announced yesterday in London. In contention for the prestigious accolade and £20,000 prize are three albums worked on at Metropolis - Paul Weller with 'Wake Up The Nation' (mastered by John Davis), Corinne Bailey Rae 'The Sea' (mixed in Studio C by Tom Elmhirst, assisted by Dan Parry) and I Am Kloot 'Sky At Night' (mastered by Tim Young). The trio will battle it out with Biffy Clyro, Villagers, Mumford & Sons, Wild Beasts, Kit Downes, Laura Marling, Dizzee Rascal, Foals and The xx.

Last Friday two of the most high profile stars on the planet, Will.I.Am & Tom Cruise, were interviewed by major radio & TV stations from around the world. A report released by the BVA last week announced that Music DVD sales in 2009 were up an impressive 14.1% from 2008 figures, owing in part to the huge success of 'Take That: The Circus - Live' which sold a phenomenal 574,000 units in December alone.

Last night we held a Mastering Masterclass with PMC Speakers at Metropolis, at which Mazen Murad and Miles Showell demonstrated the techniqies of mastering, what mastering can achieve and how to best approach producing the highest quality product.

The Editors have claimed the #1 spot on the UK album chart with their third album 'In This Light And On This Evening'. The album features tracks mixed at Metropolis by Cenzo Townsend in Studio B and was mastered by Grammy award-winning Metropolis mastering engineer Tim Young.

We were lucky enough to spend a lot of time with The Veronicas when they were over in London recently to promote '4Ever'. Jess and Lisa spent a day at Metropolis before hiring a double decker Routemaster bus to tour London in style! We photographed and filmed them every step of the way..

The Black Eyed Peas have returned to Number 1 in the UK Official Singles Charts with 'I Gotta Feeling', a song recorded in Metropolis Studio A. Little Boots 'Remedy', mixed by Rob Orton in Studio E, enters the top 10.
In the album charts, Stone Roses remastered debut album has entered at #5, with Black Eyed Peas at #3, Paolo Nutini remaining at #4 and Florence & The Machine at #6.

The list features 12 shortlisted albums from an eclectic lineup of newcomers, chart stars and unknowns the prestigious award has become known for. The fantastic debut album 'Lungs' by Florence & The Machine has enetered the UK album charts at #2. All but 2 tracks were mixed by Cenzo Townsend assisted by Neil Comber at Metropolis Studios and the album was mastered by John Davis at Metropolis.

A plethora of the hottest young British urban acts came together on Monday July 6th to form the Young Soul Rebels. As an urban soul super-group, they recorded ‘I Got Soul, But I’m Not A Soldier’ a new, re-written version of the stirring Killers track ‘All These Things I Have Done,’ at Metropolis.

We celebrated our 20th Anniversary in style last night at The Power House with an event to raise money for Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy. Acoustic sets from Aret, Eleanor McEvoy, Nina Ferro and Glen Matlock followed by a great DJ set from Ali B fully entertained the 450+ crowd.

At #4 this week (down 1) is AR Rahman Ft Pussycat Dolls 'Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny)', a remix of 'Jai Ho' the Oscar-winning song from 'Slumdog Millionaire'. The Pussycat Dolls recorded their vocals for this track here at Metropolis in Studio E earlier this year.
