Metropolis Studios is Europe's premier independent recording & mixing studio complex.
With four fantastic recording studios to choose from, there is something for everyone at Metropolis. Occupying a Grade II listed former power station in Chiswick West London, our studios evoke Fritz Lang’s 1926 film vision of the future, after which they are named. And the future is something Metropolis is all about. Although we have a stunning history, our current and next project is always the one we are focussed on.
We can record full band sessions, string sections (up to 28 piece), overdubs, Protools & Logic DAWs and have a wide range of analogue and digital tape machines available. Mixing can be done on one of our four analogue mixing consoles. We can also mix to picture and offer Stereo and 5.1 mixing for PCM, SACD & DVD Audio, DVD & Blu-ray. Alongside these we have four production & programming rooms which house a variety of world-renowned producers.
We have recorded & mixed some of the most classic albums of all time at Metropolis, including The Verve "Urban Hymns", The Stone Roses "The Second Coming", Queen "Made In Heaven" & "Innuendo", U.N.K.L.E "Psyence Fiction", Scott Walker "Tilt", The Libertines "The Libertines", and Grammy Award winners Amy Winehouse "Back To Black" & Lauryn Hill "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" as well as the massive Live Aid & Live 8 DVDs.
Our engineers and technical support team maintain Metropolis at the forefront of modern music making, marrying long-established recording techniques with the very latest technology. A recent example of our innovation is our new in-studio filming service which allows us to discretely film in studio activity for inclusion on artist DVDs, websites and other digital media.
In addition, Studio A, our largest recording studio, is the perfect location for holding your events. With a capacity of 150 standing guests / 75 seated we regularly hold playbacks, showcases, launch events, aftershow parties, secret gigs, corporate events, screenings, live broadcast/webcast TV shows and more.
